POSITANO

Discover the magnificent vertical city of the Amalfi coast. One of the most evocative and popular destinations.

Sun and sea, warm sand and lots of nature; wonderful paths suitable for trekking lovers, immersed in landscapes that manage to amaze for their diversity in botanical and faunal terms. Monuments that tell legends while taking light steps introduce you to the past of the Amalfi coast.

Positano Church

The Church of Santa Maria Assunta

One of the monuments that tells the story of Positano.
It can be reached on foot only through a flight of steps leading to Piazza Flavio Gioia.
What is very striking is its blue, yellow and green majolica dome, one of the symbols of Positano, the city of colors.

BEACHES IN POSITANO

Spiaggia Grande

The real maritime heart of the country. A long beach, one of the largest and most popular on the Amalfi Coast. Place of meeting and nightlife, which offers many clubs. From here a photo is a must to immortalize Positano in all its beauty.

Fornillo beach

The favorite of the residents, to enjoy the crystal clear water in a more relaxing way, away from the chaos of tourists. Starting right from the Marina Grande beach, through a path that passes between some Saracen towers, you can reach this beach. In early September there is the fish festival here, an ancient tradition of Positano.

Arienzo beach

Arienzo beach is also known as the “three hundred steps” due to the number of steps to be faced to reach it: a staircase from which it is possible to peek inside the gardens of some of the most luxurious villas on the Amalfi Coast. It is also famous because the sun goes away later due to its exposure here.

Laurito beach

What to buy in Positano

You certainly cannot return from Positano empty-handed.
Along the narrow streets of Positano you will find many typical shops.

Famous are the handmade Positano sandals made by hand by masters of the area, or you can not miss a “Moda Positano” shop where you can buy the typical clothes made of linen and hemp, embellished with colored beads, reminiscent of the sea and summer.
Or for a truly unique souvenir, ceramic tiles are very famous.

In any case, do not miss to take a look at the craft shops that you will encounter along the way and to have a snack based on local delicacies, such as Delizia al Limone.

After some healthy laziness in the sun, a walk under the wisteria pergola of Via Pasitea, a shopping trip and a “Delizia al limone” eaten on a terrace you want to discover the surroundings, then you can explore the paths that lead to the mountain hamlets.

Montepertuso

montepertuso
A town on the Lattari Mountains that rises between Positano and the sky, reachable from Positano by a series of steps, or a driveway that climbs up the hill. An authentic hole in the mountain that tradition has it was created by the fingerprint of the Virgin. One of the most important religious festivals on the Amalfi coast takes place here in July.

Nocelle

A hamlet that until a few years ago could only be reached via a path on the side of the mountain. Nocelle is the arrival point of the Path of the Gods, the ancient shepherds’ route which, starting from Agerola, crosses the Lattari Mountains.

From the town square you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast, with the view that stretches to Capri with its Faraglioni.

HIKE THE PATH OF THE GODS

If you enjoy combining nature and adventure, then hiking the Path of Gods is for you. This is an hike that’s not too difficult and offers stunning views of the sea and Amalfi Coast. The best way to hike the Path of the Gods is to start in Bomerano and ending in Nocelle, the town highest above Positano. This route offers a slightly downhill hike and better views.
